DFM review and data preparation
Before components are ordered and production begins, we check the data and BOM for manufacturability and resolve any open technical points.
Production data review
We compare the production data, BOM and placement files with our manufacturing capabilities. The review covers:
- Gerber files and PCB fabrication data
- BOM availability, package details and reference designators
- Consistency between the placement data, BOM and design
- Features that may complicate assembly or testing
If we find a discrepancy or production risk, we contact you and resolve it before work starts.
What the review covers
We review the customer documentation for every order, from prototypes to repeat series:
- BOM merged with the placement data: missing or extra designators, mismatched values and packages
- Placement data projected onto the PCB fabrication data: position, rotation and polarity of the components
- Solder paste stencil: apertures adjusted to the component packages, stencil data checked against the PCB data
- PCB technology from the data: layer count, material, surface finish, filled vias and IPC class
- Component availability and procurement within the required lead time
- For repeat series, the new data compared with the previous series, so a board revision change is caught before PCBs and stencils are ordered
Open points are clarified by query, not by guesswork If the documentation is ambiguous, we send you an engineering query (EQ) describing the specific item. We point out manufacturability risks and propose a solution for your approval. We do not change the product design; we build strictly to the approved documentation.
